OLYMPICS Egan Advances to Final
Ireland boxing captain Kenny Egan is through to the Olympic Light Heavyweight final after a convincing 10-3 victory over Britain's Tony Jeffries. After a tied first round (1-1), the Dubliner took control and advanced to a 4-1 advantage in the second, securing a lead that was never be relinquished. Further scores in round three (8-1) and four ensured a comprehensive 10-3 victory. Egan will fight Zhang Xiaoping, who defeated Kazakhstan's Yerkebulan Shynaliyev (4-4) on count-back for gold in Beijing's Worker's Gymnasium on Sunday. |
