Very nice walk. I had a perfect sunny day...now back home, got tan and a tick :D Trail is beautiful. One section very muddy...so even if its nice weather, I recommend to ware boots. Ascend was pretty rough but the reward ( read: view ) makes you forget about this. PS! I followed red arrow...did not see any blue arrow...

Really fantastic walk. Ennis Macra na Feirme walked this trail on June 10th 2017. The fact that it is not commercialised and just left to nature is nice. Signage on the walk is very easy to follow however signage at the entrance where you turn off to enter the site of the trailhead needs improvement. If you see a stone sign with 'White Sands' you are at the correct location. It is a few miles outside of Flagmount village on the left hand side. It says in the description on this site to follow a blue arrow, it is in fact red. Loved the contrast between walking through forest, road and then to finish with beautiful vista's of Lough Graney and Green Island, well worth the wait.

Lovely walk. Don't let the idea of some minor roads walking put you off as the views across the lake make it all worthwhile. Lovely variety of woodland, trails, forest and open road walking. Especially loved the green path walk down towards Flagmount. The village is a perfect spot for an icecream break before the final 3km

Keep an eye out for deer and their many entry/exit points on the road margins.
