The Loop begins and ends at the car park in Castle Lake Forest and follows blue arrows around Castle Lake. There are some spectacular views over the lake and of the surrounding countryside from the highest point. All on forest road, it is reasonably level with some gentle climbing and descent.

Castle Lake is on my doorstep but I've only recently visited. Use the coordinates provided to get here as the signage is non existent. The tarmac car park with picnic benches looking onto the lake is very pretty. I did the Castle loop that took me just under one hour, at a leisurely pace, around the perimeter of the lake. This route, although firm under foot for able bodies, wouldn't be suitable for buggies or those with limited mobility, in my opinion. The route was mostly litter free which was welcoming. Well worth visiting

Beautiful area any time of year.
Location of old castle could be signposted better, but altogether a memorable place to visit.
