Sport Ireland launches survey to shape five-year Strategic Plan
Sport Ireland is today launching an online survey to give the public an opportunity to shape the next five-year strategic plan for the organisation.
In March, Sport Ireland’s Strategy Development Working Group, under the leadership of CEO, Dr Una May, began consulting with key stakeholders and partners, both internally and externally, to determine the broad focus areas, challenges and opportunities in the organisation.
Dr May commented: “This process of consultation and engagement with the general public all of whom have an interest in sport, will be hugely important in helping us to fully establish the direction of travel for Sport Ireland over the next five years.
"There will be an opportunity for everyone with an interest in sport at all levels, all disciplines and all backgrounds – to have their say on what they believe are the challenges and opportunities we need to prepare for and what solutions might help us to meet those.
“I urge everyone to use this opportunity and we welcome all feedback and suggestions".
The questions in the survey are based on the feedback from a comprehensive programme of research and focus group sessions with key partners and stakeholders including National Governing Bodies, Local Sports Partnerships, Sport Ireland Board members and staff.
Sport Ireland’s Director of Governance & Strategy, Sinéad Gordon highlighted that: “The Working Group wants everyone to have a say in shaping the organisation’s future and therefore have engaged with strategy consultative experts; KKP, to further analyse the data to help pinpoint the key themes which should inform on the strategic changes required.”
The Group is especially eager to ensure that the views of the wider public, alongside those of its key stakeholders are reflected in the 2023-27 strategic priorities. All feedback will be reviewed to create the strategic plan before it is presented to the Board of Sport Ireland for approval.
Dr Una May added: “Having a clear vision and strategy for Sport Ireland over the next five years is of utmost importance to our role of lead development agency for sport in Ireland.
“We want a diverse range of perspectives and ideas, so our strategy solves real issues facing the sector and fully exploits meaningful opportunities. I would encourage anyone with an interest in sport to complete the survey.”
The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete, and responses will be anonymous. The deadline for completing the survey is 5:00pm on Monday, August 15th, 2022.
