Basketball: Women’s Super League
The launch of the Women’s SuperLeague Season is fast approaching and Basketball Ireland are excited to announce a Women’s SuperLeague Weekend extravaganza which will see all seven sides making the trip to the National Basketball Arena for two days of non-stop women’s Basketball on September 29th and 30th.
This launch of the 2007/08 Women’s SuperLeague season will follow the Irish hosting of the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships at the National Basketball Arena and will be the curtain call for the Year of Women’s Basketball.
A total of seven games will take place over the weekend and will see some mouth-watering encounters including UL Aughinish v Bausch & Lomb Wildcats and DART Killester take on reigning champions DCU Mercy.
Each team will play two games over the course of the weekend and the fixtures have been determined by last season’s league standings.
On the Saturday night there will be a banquet held for all players, coaching staff and media to celebrate the end of the Year of Women’s Basketball.
There will also be a presentation to clubs on the Saturday night about the future of the Women’s SuperLeague outlining the details of plans to introduce a promotion system from the Women’s Division One leagues.
Tickets will be of a competitive rate and the media will be given access to interview players and officials from all sides during the course of the weekend.
It promises to be the perfect opening to a captivating season of Irish Women’s Basketball!
