I especially recommend walking on the tochar (hope I've spelled that correctly) parts of the trail. It's old restored bog paths so soft earth rather than gravel and surrounded by wild flowers and bog vegetation and very fairy tale like.

I grew up in Cloone and am delighted this Nature Trail was revamped. Every trip home involves a walk here. The change of each season brings the most beautiful colours to the trees. Swans gliding across the lake. There is a real sense of serenity here. What's most wonderful is you choose what pace you want to go. Relaxed, fast paced or running, exhilaration is the outcome whatever you choose.



First visit ... walk slowly and embrace nature, it captivates all of your senses.

Walked this route on three /four occasions with young children while visiting family in Leitrim. The nature lover will enjoy the woodland with Beech, Ash, Holly and beautiful Downy Birch and Rowan scattered along the walkway. There's also Heather, Foxglove, Ferns, Mosses and Lichens to be found which are beautiful in season. Over the summer months a picnic bench was added to rest and enjoy the scenery half way round the walk and wildflower planting has also been tastefully added to enhance the walkers experience. The route is well signposted from the main road and when you arrive there is plenty of parking place in the village. Well worth a visit.



There is a map in the village at the school wall and at either end of the trail. It couldn't be more simple. It is an ideal walk for families.
