Have done it many times but always started at O’Donoghue’s Pub. This time did it clockwise. Very enjoyable and stamina sapping. Facilities at Fanore Beach excellent. Very enjoyable Day

Fabulous walk with beautiful views of the Aran Islands and across the bay to Galway and Conemara.. We stopped off in O'Donoghue pub on our way back, the food and Gunness were great. Nice end to a lovely walk.

Beautiful walk with cracking views! Only saw 2 other people on the trail so very quiet and peaceful. The stones/ rocks on the green road can be slippy so take care. The first stile (I think) is missing signage so keep heading straight..there appears to be a track to the right but that's not part of the loop.

Beautiful trail with amazing views. Well way marked, easy to follow the arrows. The ascend to top was strenuous but was worth it. You have to take water with you, otherwise you will be left as fish in the dry. I saw people doing the trail anti clockwise. Might try that next time...will be back for sure!

It was a lovely walk with some beautiful views plus we got a great day for it

We (both over 70) did this walk yesterday 27 June 2018. It was 28 C for a lot of the day but with plenty of water to drink the walk was still a joy. The car park by the beach was empty when we arrived so starting there and walking north for a few hundred metres was easy. We turned left by the river and the church. Beautiful flowers on the verges up the valley including some orchids and bloody cranes' bills. As you turn right up on to the Burren Way the green road climbs a bit steeply to the top. The ocean and the Aran Islands come into view with spectacular views out to the west and behind you down the valley. The top has some good examples of what makes up the Burren; flat limestone paving and deep vegetated channels eroded by the rain.. It's a bit of a slog back down to the road and back to the car park. On such a hot sunny day, the car park was completely full. We went down to Fanore beach and eased our aching limbs in the cool atlantic water.

Lovely walk - I did it in glorious weather. The first part along the (quite busy) narrow road isn't great but thinks improve markedly after that. The road section by the Caher River is very quiet and picturesque. There's a bit of an uphill pull to the top then a fine walk along the hill crest - just keep going straight on. Great views across to the Arran Islands. The downhill stretch on the road is fine - again nice views and time passes quickly on that slope. Before you know it you're back at the car park.

went on this walk on sunday beautiful day .all was good signs good until we got to gate at top of shoulder no sign. we went right end up coming back to gate and going back the way we came. so one sign at gate would be very helpful.

A stunning walk that begins and ends at Fanore Beach. Some great locations along the Caher River to stop and watch the water flowing downstream. Including the Khyber Pass as it snakes its way up through the valley. Follow the red arrows throughout especially where the trail begins its upward ascent, the scenic views from the summit are mesmerizing. Fanore Beach, the Aran Islands and Fanore village all emerge into view including the partial remains of Faunarooska Castle. This is a 3-4 hour glorious walk that is not too taxing.
