A great walk. I parked at Twomilegate by the lake, which is two miles north of Killaloe. From there you join the trail where it goes up the hill in quite steep incline, and in a few minutes you come to another car park. Here there is a map of the trail. The trail keeps going upwards, following a beautiful forest track that intersects with the forestry/Coillte road that winds back and forth up the hill. There is a lovely stream along the way. It starts to level off when you join this forestry track and there are some fine views up Lough Derg from here. As you follow this wider track, you are in plantation forestry, and the descent starts on a road that seems to be actively cut down. I was initially a little put off on what road to take because there were large signs saying 'do not enter' due to large machinery working, just where the trail is supposed to go. But no one was working that day so I carried on. The rest of the walk is pleasant- going downhill you follow a local road, with colourful hedges and beautiful views all the way to main Killaloe/Scarriff road.

Lovely scenic walk despite overcast day. Couple of slightly strenuous short climbs to get the heart pumping but generally a relaxed walk. Fab views of Lough Derg and surrounding rolling hills.

05.11.2016 was amazing sunny day! I wanted to take some pictures of autumn colours. I chose this trail and was not disappointed. Made it anti clockwise...the first climb was pretty harsh ( I am not fit :D ) but when I got my breath back, resting a bit...after that it was all downhill and amazing views along the way. Really nice walk ( for even untrained person ) and I got many beautiful photos. Very happy!
