Half a dozen of Cavan's famous lakes encircle the village of Killeshandra. This peaceful loop threads its way on lakeshore paths, forestry roads, grassy paths and minor road through a lovely low-lying lakeshore landscape covered in woodland of mixed broadleaf and coniferous trees.

This walk is very relaxing and beautiful, full of gorgeous woodlands and a great challenge for beginners. The only bad thing was my children wanted to use the toilets before we set off and they were absolutely disgusting and a disgrace to the local council. Knock these down and rebuild with new ones and you have top marks. I had to use them but I was nearly sick so sort them out Killashandra Council.

Easy walking trail for all ages, well marked, takes about an hour to complete.

Lovely trail through forest and along the lake shore. Takes about one hour. Very safe and peaceful.

We have been contacted by Cavan County Council and they do not own the toilets – these are owned by the local community. The County Council will pass the comment on and work with them to resolve any issues.
