GAELIC GAMES Ladies Gaelic Partner with SportTracker

24 Feb 2009

The Ladies Gaelic Football Association has become the first major sporting body to officially partner with SportTracker, the training statistics company. Ladies Football have worked with SportTracker to produce the first ever Ladies' Player Diary for the 2009 season.

The Ladies' Player Diary has been designed specifically for the female code with the input of players from around the country. The diary provides a variety of information from nutrition to fitness and allows players to track various aspects of their development over the course of a season.

Geraldine Giles, President of Cumann Peil Gael na mBلn, said, "The Ladies Player Diary is a brilliant aid for players all across the board at Club and County level. The diary contains a lot of interesting information which all players will be able to use to measure their progress. We look forward to expanding our partnership with SportTracker with seminars planned for later in the year."

The diary layout is designed using a day by day format followed by a weekly summary. Players can track their daily diets, their fluid intake, energy levels, mood levels, performance ratings and general feelings after a training session or a match.

At the end of each week, players can assess how their week went and set new goals for the coming week. The diary can serve as a very useful tool for not only players but managers too, as it allows managers to gain a greater insight into player preparation and motivation prior to big games.

SportTracker Chairman, Peter Quinn said, "Ladies have played a central and dynamic role in the history of the association, and ladies GAA is one of the most successful and impressive growth areas in Irish sport,"

"We in SportTracker are delighted that we have been chosen to work with Helen O'Rourke and her team in building and presenting this unique publication to her members all over the country. This publication will allow ladies throughout Ireland to enjoy their game more, and also further their personal targets on the playing field. The 'Tracker' diary will soon play an indispensable part in the career of all these players," continued Quinn

Peter Larkin, Managing Director of SportTracker, said, "This diary asks players to take greater responsibility for their own careers. It will help everyone who uses it to work at a higher level with their coaches and managers, and not be too dependant upon them. It is important for players to think for themselves, and work out the strengths and weaknesses in their abilities themselves. This is what SportTracker products do. We help players to discover more about themselves, and to take more from every single training session and every game they play."

The diaries are aimed at all Ladies Gaelic Footballers involved on club or County panels from 16 years of age upwards.

Over the coming months, Ladies Gaelic Football Association and Sport Tracker will deliver a series of road shows featuring various special guests, to provide information and guidance to coaches for the coming season.
