CYCLING Copenhagen World Cup Pre Event Report

12 Feb 2009
The Irish Team arrived in Copenhagen on Monday evening for the final round of the Track World Cup Series, very optimistic from their success in the Beijing World cup last month, coupled with a very positive training camp in Aigle last week. The squad trained alone on the track early on Tuesday morning, settling in quite quickly to the new surroundings. There is a distinct air of confidence among the team following the new National record last month and having now moved into the Top 20 ranked nations in the World Rankings in the Team Pursuit. The Irish team are ready to move that margin again on Saturday morning. Before that, on Friday morning, David O'Loughlin goes in the 4km Individual pursuit following on from his medal winning ride in Beijing.

Team Coach Tommy Evans is full of confidence in the lead up to the event 'The whole team were looking really good during the camp last week and have brought that form with them here to Copenhagen.'

Team manager Brian Nugent was clear about the teams intentions 'there is a certain momentum about this team now. Every camp, every event, in fact every session we have together on and off the track we move closer towards our goal as a team. It's all coming together very nicely and the small consistent improvements that we are making every single day are moving the team forward. You will see those improvements here this week'.
