What We Do
Sport Ireland Coaching provides a number of services under four broad areas to support the development of coaching in Ireland.
1. Education and Training
Sport Ireland Coaching develops and delivers lifelong learning for coaches and Coach Developers in a variety of ways including, but not limited to, the development and review of NGB coach awards aligned to the Coaching Development Programme for Ireland (CDPI), training and CPD for Coach Developers and Instructor Developers, quality assurance of coach education and training, certification, training in specialist areas of coaching such as children, women, teenage girls and physical literacy.
2. Coaching Communities
Sport Ireland Coaching promotes and supports coaching and coaches in their communities. These communities can include women in coaching, coaching children, parents in coaching, coaching teenagers and high performance coaches.
3. Partnerships
Sport Ireland Coaching works with and through key stakeholders involved in education including National Governing Bodies for Sport, Local Sports Partnerships, Further and Higher Education, Disability in Sport agencies; CARA and QQI.
4. Research and Innovation
Sport Ireland Coaching supports coaching research and innovation through European Erasmus+ programmes, links with higher education providers, links with other relevant sporting bodies and links with international agencies such as the International Council for Coaching Excellence and iCoachKids.
