Motor Sport: 2007 Donegal International Rally

The 2007 Donegal International Rally takes place next weekend 15-17 June. The Rally, which will be based in Letterkenny, is the 5th round of the 2007 Irish Championships. It features 3 legs, divided into 22 special stages, all of which take place in Glenveagh National Park. 

There is a record entry this year- a total of 325 entries for its various sections. There are 244 entries in the main field. This has been whittled down to 150 resulting in many good rally drivers on the reserve list. There is also a Youth and Historic sections.

Among the entrants is the Current World Rally Champion Sebastian Loeb, who is using the rally as part of his build up for the Rally Ireland in November, which for the first time is a round of the World Rally Championship.

The organisers of the Rally, the Donegal Motor Club, have disclosed that Sebastian Loeb’s entry for this year’s event has sparked unprecedented levels of interest. Accommodation bookings have dramatically increased and thousands are expected to flock to the North West for the weekend.
