Sport Ireland Congratulates Cricket Ireland on Full Membership of ICC

Chairman of Sport Ireland, Kieran Mulvey, today congratulated Cricket Ireland on their successful application to become a Full Member of the International Cricket Council.

Commenting on the announcement by the ICC today that Ireland and Afghanistan will join the existing ten Full Members, Mr. Mulvey said: “On behalf of Sport Ireland I would like to congratulate Cricket Ireland on their ascension to Full Membership of the International Cricket Council. Cricket Ireland has proven itself to be one of our leading National Governing Bodies for Sport and yesterday’s announcement was a landmark one for Irish sport.”

Chief Executive of Sport Ireland, John Treacy, added: “Cricket Ireland attaining Full Membership of the ICC is a testament to the exceptional performance of Irish teams on the field and the hard work off it by Chairman Ross McCollum, Chief Executive Warren Deurtom, the Board, the Executive and the many dedicated volunteers over the last number of years – congratulations to all involved.”
