Appearing in his first Paralympic Games, Eoghan beat Canadian Michael Sametz in tonight’s medal race following which Sport Ireland Chairman, Kieran Mulvey, congratulated the Galwayman on capping a fine day for the Irish in Rio: “Eoghan is no stranger to success on the international stage with world championship and world cup titles already under his belt, but the Paralympics is a different challenge for all athletes, and Eoghan showed great determination in taking bronze in such comprehensive fashion.

“On behalf of Sport Ireland congratulations to Eoghan, his team and Parlaympics Ireland on another success in Rio.”
