Volleyball: Beach Volleyball Festival

The Coca Cola Beach Volleyball Festival takes place this weekend in Bray. The Festival run in conjunction with the Irish Sports Council and the Volleyball Association of Ireland has attracted a strong field including Team USA.

Last year’s Queen of the Beach Kathleen Madden (USA) is once again joined by her compatriot Kirsten Olsen and two newcomers Angela Lewis and Jenelle Koester, both of whom are highly ranked on the AVP Tour. 

The men’s event has attracted a number of well known participants including David Fisher and Jack Quinn (USA), Aaron Crook (Australia) and Tristan Sheppard (England).

Other Festival Events

Inter Cultural Cup (Sat 14th) 12-8pm

This is a new vent organised by the Volleyball Association of Ireland. It is supported by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform and aimed at promoting diversity through sport. The competition will be run on grass courts beside the main stand area and the theme is fun and participation. The Final will be played in the main arena.

Celebrity Match (Sun 15th)  12-8pm

The Celebrity Match in aid of Special Olympics Ireland will include high profile participants including current Leinster, Irish and Australian Rugby players; GAA Legends past and present and well known personalities from the world of showbiz and entertainment.
