Show Jumping Lennon And Lou Take Victory In Portuguese Grand Prix
Dermott Lennon today (Sunday) claimed his second Grand Prix victory of the month at Vilamoura in Portugal with Judith Sossick's Irish Sport Horse Loughview Lou Lou.
The former show jumping world champion picked up 11,250 euro as first prize in the three-star competition this evening, outpacing nearest rival, Belgium's François Brichart on Boosty Chavannais, by just over a second in the jump-off round.
Lennon's earlier Grand Prix victory with Lou Lou was at the beginning of March, in the two-star show at the same Mediterranean venue.
Meanwhile at the three-star show in Arezzo, Italy, Swiss-based Kildare rider Niall Talbot placed fifth in today's Grand Prix with the chestnut gelding Nicos de la Cense, which he owns jointly with Jean-Claude Engisch. The competition was won by Russia's Natalia Belova and Cosimo, who accounted for one of only three double clear rounds in the contest.
At the five-star show in Wellington, Florida, Meath's Cian O'Connor placed fifth in the big 1m50 Suncast Classic on Saturday aboard Adena Springs's Quidam's Cherie. The USA's Kent Farrington took first place with Waomi.
