Clifford To Race For Bronze At Paracycling Track Worlds Today
Eoghan Clifford has qualified for the bronze medal ride off in the Men's C3 3km Individual Pursuit at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands today. The Galway based rider made his track cycling debut at Newport just 6 weeks ago and today qualified as the third fastest rider in the Individual Pursuit, just 0.5 sec off the gold medal final.
Clifford will now face Russia's Ustinov at 2.30pm Irish time. In the qualifying round Clifford started opposite South African rider, Odendaal, and passed him twice in the 3km event, before finishing in a time of 3.39.945. Ustinov, who will also contest the bronze medal, finished in a time of 3.41.245. USA's Berenyi and Fujita (Japan) will compete for gold. The Championships run from Thursday 26th March until Sunday 29th March.
Lynch will also be in action this afternoon, competing in the qualifying rounds of the Men's C2 3km Individual Pursuit. Competition began in the Apeldoorn Velodrome on Thursday 26th March and will continue until Sunday the 29th March, with all competitions taking place during the day.
