Irish Through To Quarter Finals

08 Aug 2014

Team Ireland continues to shine in Rio as they progress to quarter final stages of the 2014 Brazil Gran Prix. Ireland will have players competing in three of the five events at the quarter finals of the 2014 Brazil Grand Prix.

Irish number one men singles player Scott Evans was the first to make the quarter finals when he beat Bjorn Seguin of America in 3 straight games. Sam Magee and his brother Joshua were the next of the Irish to book a quarter final place beating the number one seeds Phillip Chew and Sattawat Pongnaira of America.

Chloe Magee lost her last 16 singles match earlier in the day against Anna Doi of Japan and had to quickly get back up for a mixed doubles with her brother Sam. The Irish number ones faced Josche Zurwonne and Johanna Goliszewski of Germany and Magee put her earlier disappointment aside to join the boys in another quarter final with a 3 games to one win over the Germans.
