ANTI DOPING Full Determination of Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel in the matter of Gareth Turnbull

The Irish Sports Council today (November 14th, 2006) announced that the Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel has received no notification of appeal under the Irish Anti-Doping Rules to the decision in the case of Gareth Turnbull.

The Irish Sports Council would like to publicly record its thanks to the independent Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel, comprising its Chairman Mr. Paul Gallagher, Senior Counsel, Dr. Patrick O’Neill and Mr. Patrick Boyd for its detailed and reasoned determination in this case. It reached its conclusions after a number of hearings in the matter and after in-depth consideration by it of all the evidence and facts of this case. 

The Irish Sports Council accepts the judgment in its entirety. The Council believes that the decision is of significant public interest and, in the interests of openness and transparency, is publishing the decision of the Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel in its entirety. It is now available at www.irishsportscouncil.ie

The IAAF has written to the Irish Sports Council, in view of recent media coverage of this matter, pointing out that at no time in the process did they advise the Council not to proceed with the case.
