Quarter Final Awaits Magee's In Canada

03 Jul 2014

Bitter Sweet emotions for Magee as he reaches Quarter final of Canada Grand Prix. It was a day of highs and lows for Sam Magee as he progressed into the quarter final of the Grand Prix event in the Mixed doubles.Earlier in the day Sam playing with his brother Joshua faced a tough task against number four seeds Laurent Constantin and Matthieu Lo Ying Ping of France. The brother partnership in their first tournament took out opponents from USA in the opening round and almost created a shock in the last 16 as they put Constantin and Pings number four seeding to test.

The French pairing won the match but both games went to 20 points all before they could put the Irish pairing away. The final score was 23-21 23-21.

Sam then had to put disappointment aside as did his partner Chloe who lost out in three sets the day before losing out against Hong Kong opposition in the women singles. The Irish who are seeded four in this event faced Toby Ng and Alex Bruce in the last 16. The Magee's took a three set victory with a 19-21 21-15 21-9 score line setting up a quarter final match with Hyun Cheol Kil and Sun Young Park of Korea.
