UCI Track Cycling World Cup Mexico Team Announcement

04 Dec 2013

The Irish Track Cycling Team continue their campaign to qualify points for the World Championships in March this weekend, when the two person team will compete in the second round of the 2014 World Cup season in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Caroline Ryan will be competing in the Points Race and the Individual Pursuit, while Eoin Mullen will compete in the Sprint and the Keirin.
Ryan is currently ranked second in the World in the Women's Individual Pursuit, and a strong performance this weekend could see her move back into the number one spot, as Australia's Rebecca Wisiak leads by just 10 points. Mullen, who is based in the World Cycling Centre in Aigle, is Ireland's premier sprinter, and will be looking to emulate the 200m national record of 9.965 seconds, that he set last January on this Velodrome.

The main aim for riders this weekend is to secure points towards qualifying for the World Championships. The World Cup runs from the 5th - 7th December in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
