Doherty named in Euro XC team

Westport triathlete Con Doherty has been named as part of the Junior Men’s
team for the European Cross Country Championships.

Doherty, a member of the Triathlon Ireland National Junior Squad had an
excellent 2013 season, the highlights of which included a gold medal at the Athlone
Junior European Cup, silver at the Junior Cross Triathlon World Championships
and bronze at the Quarteira Junior European
Cup in Portugal.

Doherty managed to secure
his place on the team for the European Championships thanks to a 4th
place finish at the Inter counties Gerry Farnan XC in October.

Also on the team is Sean Tobin (Clonmel AC), Aaron
Hanlon (Clonliffe Harriers AC), Ruairi Finnegan (Letterkenny AC), Kevin Mulcaire
(Ennis Track) and Andrew Coscoran (Star of the Sea AC).

The 6km Junior Men’s Race takes place on Sunday 8th
of December starting at 10:40am.
