Xterra Ireland Entries Open

Entries are now open for the inaugural Xterra Ireland off road
triathlon which has been selected as the Cross Triathlon National Championships and will take place in Killaloe, Co. Clare on the 19th and
20th of July 2014.

As part of the Xterra European tour 14 races will take place on
successive weekends in locations across mainland Europe, Scandinavia and
the UK as well as here in Ireland.

The Xterra Ireland Championships will also double up as the inugral Triathlon Ireland Cross Triathlon National Championships marking an exciting development in the sport. There
are 5 events to choose from over the weekend: an Xterra mountain bike
race, an Xterra trail run with a choice of distances, 7km or 13 kms, a
discover Xterra sprint triathlon and of course the longer distance Xterra Championship race.

The schedule for the weekend is as follows:

Saturday the 19th of July:
Xterra mountain bike race.
Xterra trail run 7km/13km options.

Sunday the 20th of July:
Discover Xterra sprint triathlon
Xterra Ireland triathlon championships.

The prize fund of €12,000 makes it the highest triathlon prize
fund in ireland. Added to this there are slots to be won at this race
for the Xterra World Championships in Hawaii in October 2014. Such prizes
and the presence of some of the world’s top professional triathletes
will make this event a must do on the Triathlon Ireland calendar.

The event will be part of the Brian Boru 2014 celebrations, a year
long calendar of events taking place in Killaloe to mark the 1,000 year
anniversary of the death of Brian Boru. This event is receiving huge
local support and the towns of Ballina Killaloe are looking forward to
welcoming all the athletes. There will be a full schedule of social
events over the weekend to ensure that everyone enjoys the experience.

Triathlon Ireland are pleased to be sanctioning the race
which will open up the sport of triathlon to mountain runners, mountain bikers,
adventure races and a whole host of outdoor pursuits enthusiasts.
