Learning Needs Analysis

29 Nov 2013

Description of Service

The Irish Sports Council is committed to helping sports organisations build Organisational Capability. As part of this process the ISC will, if required, conduct an annual Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) focusing on the behavioural and technical competencies as identified in the organisation's PMR System in order to identify the gap between the organisation's current knowledge, skills and abilities versus its desired knowledge, skills and abilities. Once this gap is identified a Learning Plan will be developed to address these needs.

A learning needs analysis will help:

  • Identify what skills and knowledge the learners already have
  • Highlight what skills/knowledge and competencies need developing
  • Outline and define expectations and goals
  • Determine what can be realistically achieved with available resources

The Process

  • The organisation will send the ISC representative all PMR documentation /information required.
  • The ISC representative will review the required documentation
  • The ISC representative will then meet with the CEO/Senior Manager to identify gaps in skills and knowledge
  • The ISC representative will prepare a Learning Plan to address these gaps
  • The ISC representative will meet with the CEO/Senior Manager again to finalise the Learning Plan before publishing the document
