SQUASH Irish Women 4th in European Team Championships

The Irish Women’s team finished in an excellent fourth place in the European team Squash Championships in the Netherlands which finished on 4th May. The Men finished in ninth place.

The women’s team, consisting of Madeline Perry, Aisling Blake, Laura Mylotte and Kerri Shields had 3-1 victories over Germany and Spain and lost narrowly 2-1 against eventual winners England and 3 nil against hosts the Netherlands. In the 3rd/4th place play-off, Ireland lost 2-1 to France.

The mens’s team consisting of Liam Kenny, Derek Ryan, Arthur Gaskin, Niall Rooney and Stephen Richardson defeated Austria 3-1( twice).It lost 3-1 to Spain and Wales and 4 nil to France. In the 9th/10th play-off it tied with Finland 2 each but gained 9th place on games won.
