11 Sep 2013

Michael Noble picked up a bronze medal in the 65 - 69 yrs age group last
weekend in Zofingen, Switzerland at the World Long Course Duathlon
Championships.

Michael finished behind winner Lochi Lochner of South Africa and second placed
Geoff Russell from Team GB. He covered the 10km run, 150km bike, 30km run in a
time of 9:42:01, an improvement of 17 minutes on last year’s performance.

"The bike course was three loops with three climbs per lap. The middle
climb, the Bodenberg, was the hardest with ramps of up to 16%. Running was just
straight out brutal, going up the side of a mountain for two kilometres each of
the four times leaving Zofingen."

Ciaran

The start of September also saw Wicklow TC’s Gabrielle
Dillon surprise herself by taking group bronze at the European Long Distance
Championships in Vichy, France.

He splits were 1:18:40 swim, 5:54:38 bike and 4:32:49 run
for an overall finish time of 11:56:55 and 3rd place in the 40-44
yrs age group.
