Bethany Firth makes another Final in Montreal

Bethany Firth is through to her third Final at the Paralympic Swimming World Championships in Montreal Canada.

Swimming in Heat 1 of the 100m Breaststroke S14, Firth cruised to victory over 3 seconds ahead of her closest competitor in a new personal best time of 1:20.50, knocking almost half a second off her previous best of 1:20.90. Alexandra Zharova of Russia was second in 1:23.74. 17 Year old Firth has already won two Silver medals in the 200m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke.

Paralympic Champion and World Record Holder Michelle Alonso Morales was the fastest qualifier in the heats of the 100m Breaststroke in a time of 1:18.92 while Great Britain's Nicole Lough will advance as the second seed in 1:20.13.

Speaking after this morning's heats Head of Paralympic Swimming Dave Malone said "Bethany had a fantastic heat swim, she is relaxed and confident after her performance this morning and is looking forward to racing in tonight's Final"

The 100m Breaststroke S14 Final will take place at 1:15am (17th August).
