Irelands European Pony Squad Confirmed

Horse Sport Ireland has confirmed the Pony Eventing squad for the 2013 European Championships in Arezzo, Italy from the 23rd – 28th July 2013.

The Pony Eventing Squad in alphabetical order is:

• Nessa Briody – Rathnaleen Dark Secret
• Patrick Dennehy – Rose Down
• Lucy Latta – Nono/Opan
• Shannon Nelson – Millridge Buachaill Bui Donnacha O’Brien – Ice Cool Bailey Holly Wray – Holiday Chase

The first non –travelling reserve is Sarah Connell and Greybrook Miller.

The second non travelling reserve will be selected after Monart from the following:

• Sophie Buller – G Maha
• Lucy Hancock – Newtown Westie
• Jessica Kuehnle – Fernhill Ruby
• Zoe Maher – Drop The Subject

High Performance Pony Eventing Team Manager Sue Shortt said: “We have a very strong squad of ponies again this year, we are in the lucky position that the standard of our ponies and riders is improving every year. Three of the riders were selected in our performance based selection system whilst the other three riders were given wildcards.

"Selection has been difficult this year with such a high standard of combinations to choose from. I am very happy with the way the selection system worked and it should help prepare the riders to deal with the pressures involved in competing at the Championships”.
