Swim Ireland's Carlton Irish Long Course Swimming Championships kicks off this Thursday 25th April at the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin. Irish swimmers will be looking to qualify for World and European Meets taking place this Summer, over four days of competition.

Sycerika McMahon (100m Breaststroke) and Chris Bryan (Open Water) have already qualified for the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona in July while Olympian Barry Murphy will be seeking to hit the qualification time of 1:00.86 in the 100m Breaststroke this weekend.

Places are also up for grabs on teams travelling to the European Junior Championships in Poland, the European Youth Olympic Festival in the Netherlands, the World University Games in Russia and the US Open in California.

2009 World 400m Individual Medley Champion Katinka Hosszu will travel to Ireland as she continues her preparations for the World Championships. The 3 time Hungarian Olympian finished fourth in the 400m IM at the London 2012 Olympic Games, she then went on to win 3 Gold Medals at the European Short Course Championships in November 2012 and 2 Gold Medals at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in December 2012. Hosszu will be competing in all individual events in Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Medley.

Speaking prior to the event Swim Ireland National Performance Director Peter Banks said "We are looking forward to a great weekend of racing in Dublin, we have all of our national senior squad swimmers competing this weekend and having them and Katinka here racing with our young swimmers makes for a top class event."
