Amanda Larking wins European Youth Championships Gold in Vienna

02 Apr 2013

Irish youth bowler Amanda Larkin made Tenpin Bowling history this Easter by becoming the first Irish player to win the European Youth Championships (EYC) Masters in Vienna.

Competing against 68 of the top European players from 22 countries Larkin bowled well all week to qualify in ninth place for the Masters matchplay finals. She then stepped her game up a gear to win five consecutive matches to become European Youth Master Champion.

Beating four strong opponents from Russia, Belgium, Sweden and Austria en route to the Final where she then took down Andrea Hansen of Norway with games of 215 and 207 to take the match two games to nil and win Gold for Ireland.

Larkin's achievement tops an impressive few months for Irish junior bowling, with outstanding performances from our bowlers in the Junior Irish Open back in November, as well as top-eight finishes in both the Women's and Men's adult Irish Open in January.

Congratulations to Amanda for her magnificent performance and another great milestone in this the 50th Anniversary of Tenpin Bowling in Ireland.
