BOXING Katie Taylor to feature on Transworld Sport show

Ireland’s Katie Taylor will feature on Transworld Sport this week on Sky Sports and Channel 4.

Katie, from Bray is the reigning World and European champion boxer at 60kg (lightweight) and also rated as the number one pound for pound fighter on the AIBA world rankings announced recently. Katie, who is coached by her father Pete and is a member of the IABA’s elite high performance squad claimed her third European title in a row last November, and all at the tender age of just twenty-one.

Katie is working towards retaining her world title this November and ultimately the London 2012 Olympics where it is hoped women’s boxing will be included on the programme.

Not content to lead the boxing world Katie is also on the Irish senior women’s soccer side and was picked in the squad this week to play in the upcoming UEFA European Championship qualifying game against fellow group leaders Italy.

Transworld Sport, which is transmitted in over 100 countries worldwide will be broadcast at 7pm on Sky Sports 3 on Wednesday 13th Feb, and repeated on Thursday 14th Feb at 11.30am again on Sky Sports 2. It will also be shown at 6.35am on Channel 4 on Sunday 17th Feb.
