Hungarian Indoor Competition 2013

31 Jan 2013

Pentathlon Ireland will send a full quota of eight athletes to the Hungarian Indoor competition this weekend in Budapest. This is traditionally the first competition of the year and will be the first time that Natalya Coyle will compete since finishing 9th in the London 2012 Olympic Games. Fellow Olympian, Arthur Lanigan-O'Keeffe won a bronze medal in his last competition of 2012 at the Junior World Championships so will be keen to translate this form to senior level.

Coyle will be joined by Kate Coleman-Lenehan (22), Naomi Mullins (19) and Sive Brassil (18) to contest the Women's event while Lanigan-O'Keeffe, Eanna Bailey (22), Conor Hillick (21) and Tom O'Brien (18) compete in the Men's event.

To have eight athletes competing at a senior international competition shows the progression of the High Performance Programme that was only established three years out of the 2012 Olympic Games. There's also been a significant interest in the sports since the London Olympics, with expoential growth in the sports grassroots programme through our monthly Taster Training sessions where people can try their hand at fencing and shooting.
