Irish Senior Cup Quarter Finals (men's)

07 Nov 2012

The quarter finals of the men's Irish senior cup takes place this Saturday November 10th before there is quite a break with the semi-finals taking place in March 2013. Last round we saw a number of high scoring games with no less than forty five goals scored. This weekend as the final gets tantalising closer and the stakes get higher will it be a repeat of last weekend's goals extravaganza or will defences hold firm?

Over in Rathdown at 2.30pm, Monkstown who overcame UCD in a tight affair in round 2 entertain Leinster rivals Railway Union who clinched their quarter final spot after comprehensively beating NICS in round 2. Reigning champions Cork Harlequins welcome Banbridge to Harlequins Park at 2.30pm in a repeat of last year's quarter final. Banbridge will no doubt be looking to avenge last season's defeat in which Cork won 2-1. Three Rock Rovers welcome Kilkeel to Grange Road at 2pm. Having come through a titanic tussle with Instonians in round 2, Three Rock will be hoping Peter Blakeney continues his goal scoring spree although they face stiff test as Kilkeel will be buoyed on by their 5-1 win over Avoca. The last game of the quarter finals sees Pembroke Wanderers; fresh from their penalty stroke win over IHL champions Lisnagarvey travel to Claremont Road to face YMCA at 1.30pm. YMCA who recorded a 9-0 win over UCC will no doubt look once again to last weekend's hat trick hero Krystian Makowski to spearhead the attack.
