Stunning Victory for Team Ireland in the Tenpin Bowling Adult Triple Crown 2012

20 Sep 2012

This past weekend saw Ireland's finest male and female bowlers overcome the best of the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands in Leisureplex Tallaght to win the Adult Triple Crown.

In total 7 nations competed in the prestigious event: Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Jersey and Guernsey.

The format of the event saw 84 Bowlers (12 per Team - 6 Men & 6 Women) play in a series of events.

After a gruelling weekend of singles, doubles, trios, five-man team and mixed doubles, Ireland won the Overall Triple Crown Shield in the face of strong opposition from England.

On the way to securing their first Overall Triple Crown victory in four years, Ireland won the Men's Shield and were runners up to England in the Women's shield. In total Ireland secured four gold medals (Men's Doubles, Men's Trios, Ladies Trios and Mixed Doubles) along with five silver and two bronze.

It truly was a sensational performance from the Irish men & women (5 Men & 4 Women finished in the top 10 of their respective divisions) which culminated in a well-earned victory and the best performance of an Adult Team for many years.

It is also worth a special mention that two junior players, Amanda Larkin and Simon English, who were competing at Adult level for the first time, were key to many of the medal wins. Both players placed highly in the Individual Standings, with Amada finishing in 7th position and Simon finishing in 3rd place, taking a bronze medal in the All Events.

Congratulations to all involved on a stunning performance.
