Ireland Squad for Celtic Cup Announced

26 Jun 2012

Ireland Men's Coach Paul Revington has today announced his Ireland squad to compete in the upcoming Celtic Cup taking place in Lisnagarvey from Thursday 28th June - Sunday 1st July.

Ireland men will compete against Scotland, Wales and South Africa - the latter who are in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics. France withdrew from all Celtic Cups this year and as such Irish Hockey are delighted to have them included in this tournament.

Commenting on the event Paul Revington said "All the players will be excited to get back into tournament mode again and make significant individual contributions to the continued momentum of the Ireland Team."

Dominic Walsh, Chair of Sport Northern Ireland also commented "Sport Northern Ireland is delighted to welcome teams from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and South Africa for the Senior Celtic Cup pre-games training event. In addition to securing three pre-games qualifying events, and four pre-games training events, we will also soon play host to the Paralympic Council of Ireland, the Cuban and Australian boxing teams, the Chinese Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnasts, athletics teams from Sudan, Quatar, Egypt, Kuwait, the Paralympic Council of Jordan and the South African badminton team.

"We are delighted to have secured ten camps for pre-games training here. Final preparations are underway to welcome all of these international athletes as they prepare and acclimatise for the Games and we wish them every success." Continued Nick.
