Paul Stott Jr. of Ireland wins the 21st Malta Open Championship

Paul Stott Jr. of Ireland qualified first for the step-ladder finals of the 2012 Malta Open in St. Julian's, Malta en route to winning the event.


In the title match on Sunday, Jun. 17, Stott seeded first, defeated local Maltese International Mark Spiteri, two-games-to-none, at the Eden Super Bowl to win the title.


A total of 44 bowlers from 10 countries played in the 21st Malta Open which was held from June 14th to 17th at the Eden Super Bowl, a 20-lane centre in St. Julian's.


This is Paul's second victory in a European Open event and follows on from his inaugural win in the IDM Bucharest International Bowling Open in November 2011 and some excellent performances on the 2012 European Tour so far this year.


Paul has represented Ireland at Junior & Youth levels and is a current member of the Adult Team Ireland squad where he won the Singles, Doubles and Masters Gold Medals at the 2011 Adult Triple Crown in Norwich, England.


In 2012 Paul became the first recipient of the Irish Tenpin Bowling Associations 'High Performance Certificate' award in recognition of his outstanding achievements at a European level.
