Gold for O'Leary & Burrows at Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta

Peter O'Leary and David Burrows have won Gold at the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in Weymouth, the host venue for the 2012 Olympics. The Providence Resources Irish Olympic Sailors performed consistently during the regatta remaining in the top 3 throughout. They were 3rd overall heading in to toady's medal race but a 3rd place finish in the double points race saw them jump ahead of rivals Scheidt & Prada (BRA) and Percy & Simpson (GBR).


ISA Performance Director James O'Callaghan enthused "It was a fantastic race under pressure from Peter and David. It was nerve racking to watch but both boys were elated as they crossed the line to claim Gold".


Earlier today Annalise Murphy won the Bronze medal in the Laser Radial class. She had a great day today winning the final medal race which brought her from 5th overall to 3rd overall on the leader board. Murphy had repeated her performance from the 2011 Sail for Gold Regatta where she also won the bronze.

ISA Performance Director James O'Callaghan remarked "This is a fantastic result from Annalise. She was perfectly focused during the medal race and she delivered the goods".


In the early afternoon Ryan Seaton & Matt McGovern finished 7th overall in the 49er class up three places from 10th. The duo had a good medal race in which they finished 5th. Overall they've had a very successful regatta with a total of three race wins.


ISA Performance Director James O'Callaghan commented on the boys performance "It's great time in the season for the boys to post personal best. They'll come away from this regatta with a huge confidence boost".
