Cycling: Irish team announced for World Cycling Championships

26 Sep 2007

Cycling Ireland has announced its six member team for next the World Cycling Championships which will be held in Stuttgart from 26 -30 September 2007.

Performance Director Frank Campbell said he was very hopeful that this select group could perform at what is said to be the most difficult Worlds course for many years. Ireland has done well to qualify 6 riders as the qualification standards were very high.

Ireland’s under 23 team has had good success in recent years and Mark Cassidy and Daniel Martin have a string of top class results behind them. Campbell hoped that Siobhan Dervan and David McCann had recovered after recent illness and said that Philip Deignan’s performance in the Tour of Spain is spectacular and hopes the super talented young Donegal cyclist finally gets the luck his talent deserves.
