Penultimate Day of Racing Tomorrow for Murphy at the Laser Radial Worlds

18 May 2012

Annalise Murphy placed 9th and 21st in the Gold Fleet today at the Laser Radial World Championships in Germany. She remains 15th overall. She will battle it out in tomorrow's races for a spot in Sunday's medal race where the top 10 sailors will compete for the podium. ISA Performance Director stated "The medal race is within striking distance but it will require a special day tomorrow to get there".

Ger Owens and Scott Flanigan sailed a further two races today at the 470 World Championships in Barcelona. They had a 27th and a 29th which leaves them 25th overall with one final race tomorrow. However they have not made the top 10 so will not compete in tomorrow's medal race.

The final day of racing for Ross Hamilton at the Finn World Championships in Cornwall was cancelled. The winds barely reached 2 knots so the championship ended without the final fleet race or medal race being sailed. Hamilton finished 48th overall, a new personal best for him at a world championship.
