Repeat Performance for Murphy at the Laser Radial Worlds

18 May 2012

Annalise Murphy had another extremely successful day at the Laser Radial World Championships in Germany. She placed 1st and 2nd in her two races of the day, repeating yesterday's results. She moves up from 27th to 15th overall. Racing continues until Saturday with the top 10 progressing to the medal race on Sunday. ISA Performance Director commented "well she is certainly proving the new boat from Providence is not slow. There is still a lot of sailing to be done but it is very encouraging to see Annalise back winning races".

Meanwhile fellow Providence Resources ISA Sailing Team members, Ger Owens and Scott Flanigan were back on the water today in Barcelona at the 470 World Championships in They remain 23rd overall having placed 23rd and 19th today. They will continue at the competition until the final series race and medal race on Saturday.

Racing continued again for Ross Hamilton at the Finn World Championships in Cornwall. The sailors completed three races today before the final fleet race and medal race tomorrow. Hamilton had a 50th, 56th and 46thwhich leaves him 48th overall. Unfortunately this will not be enough for him to qualify for the 2102 Olympics but the experience gained in this cycle will prove invaluable for Rio 2016.
