2012 High Performance Directors Forum

08 Feb 2012

High Performance Directors (PD) from 8 sports attended the first Peer Exchange Session of 2012, held at the Irish Institute of Sport (IIS) on Friday, 3rd February.

Topics brought forward by the PD’s for discussion were:

  • Pre & Post Olympic Games
  • Challenges facing PD’s
  • Coaching

John Treacy, CEO Irish Sports Council opened the session and welcomed the group by reinforcing the important role the PD’s play in building and managing the HP sports system that supports athletes to realise their potential.  He also spoke about their contribution to the overall development of the wider high performance sport system.

Gary Keegan, Director of the Institute of Sport said “The Institute was delighted to be able to facilitate this session.  It was fantastic to get so much high performance sports expertise in the room, discussing challenges and solutions facing performance directors this year.  We now await instructions from the PD’s on the format they want for this forum going forward.  The response from the PD’s was positive; they value the opportunity to exchange with their peers in such a forum”.

The Institute intends to host more of these sessions in 2012.  For more details contact aporter@instituteofsport.ie
