CRICKET Ireland defeat the UAE in Intercontinental Cup

Ireland defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the fourth and final day by 9 wickets in the ICC Intercontinental Cup at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium yesterday. The victory earned Ireland 20 points and are now in second place behind current leaders Kenya.

Ireland reached this target in fifteenth over for the lost of one wicket. William Porterfield top scored with 40 not out.

It was an excellent overall team performance highlighted by Niall O’Brien’s brilliant 174 runs and Alex Cusack’s five wickets match haul.

Ireland will now travel to Dhaka to play 3 One Day Internationals against Bangladesh on 18th, 20th and 22nd March.
