Irish Wheelchair Rugby Team Depart for European Championships
The Irish Wheelchair Rugby Team played their opening game of the 2011 IWRF European Championships against Switzerland on Sunday night. Despite a good start to the game, Switzerland proved too strong for the Irish on this occasion. With strong support from a good home crowd the Swiss took the mid way through the first quarter and lead the game to the final whistle. Final score Switzerland 49, Ireland 32. The team, captained by Alan Lynch, have taken some really positives out of the game and hope to bring it through in their next game against Germany on Tuesday at 14.30 (13.30 Irish Time).
