2011 IWRF European Championships

The Irish Wheelchair Rugby will depart for Notwill, Switzerland this weekend to compete in their fifth IWRF European Wheelchair Rugby Championships. On Saturday the team will have their last training sessions before their opening game on Sunday Evening against the hosts, Switzerland. The Irish Team will have five pool matches to make it through to the final knock out stages of the Tournament on Saturday and Sunday. The Irish will face some strong opponents in the pool matches, going up against three time European Championships Great Britain, and the hard hitting Polish and French Teams.

The team, captained by Alan Lynch, is looking forward to the challenge of this European Championships and is looking to improve on their current European and World Rankings in the hope of qualifying for next years World Championships in 2014. Commenting on the teams' preparation, Irish Wheelchair Rugby Captain, Alan Lynch, said, "Preparation has all gone according to plan so far and we are all looking forward to the challenge ahead".

Tuesday 4th October
Game.2 14.30 (13.30 Irish Time) Ireland v Germany

Wednesday 5th October
Game.3 12.30 (11.30 Irish Time) Ireland v Great Britain

Thursday 6th October
Game.4 08.30 (07.30 Irish Time) Ireland v Poland

Friday 7th October
Game.5 10.30 (09.30 Irish Time) Ireland v France
