Athletics: Cork City Sports this Sat!

The 56th Cork City Sports will; be held in the Mardyke, Cork next Saturday 30th June commencing at 2pm. The Cork City Sports is one of the select band of leading European Meetings, which now form the top six EAA Outdoor Permit Meetings. Following the 2006 evaluation process, Cork is now ranked 3rd, of all EAA permit meetings, up three places from 2005.

Saturday’s event promises to be an exciting day of world class athletics. Some of Ireland’s leading Athletes, including Derval O’Rourke, trying to win her home event for the first time and double European Indoor 400m Champion, David Gillick will be competing against many world class athletes from over twenty-five countries. 

Among the international star names competing will be current World 5000m World Champion Benjamin Limo from Kenya, Daniel Caines, England former World Indoor 400m Champion, Reese Hoffa, US, current World Indoor Shot Putt Champion, Amy Acuff , US Women’s High Jump Champion and Craig Mottram and Benita Johnston from Australia.
