Sports Development Seminar at Croke Park

08 Aug 2011

Following on from the very successful Club Development Information Seminar held in the Aviva Stadium in 2010 the Dublin, Wicklow & Kildare Local Sports Partnership's are calling all sports clubs in the region to sign up for the 2011 Club Development Information Seminar at Croke Park on Saturday 27th August 2011.

The 2010 Seminar was attended by representatives from a variety of sports from Frisbee to Sailing, Gaelic Football to Special Olympics and many, many more. In fact over 200 club delegates from 31 different sports attended the event. The success of the inaugural event has seen the Club Development Information Seminar been organised for a second year running to assist and support clubs and their administrators, volunteers and coaches in the Dublin, Wicklow and Kildare region.

This year's event will run from 10.00am (registration is from 9.30am) to 4.00pm. Minister Jimmy Dennihan TD and Pat Gilroy, the Dublin Senior football manager will be a guest speakers on the day as will John Treacy, Chief Executive of the Irish Sports Council. The day itself will consist of a series of presentations on a range of topics important to all involved in sport. These include; strategic planning, social media, finance management, club discipline rules, volunteer recruitment and more. Delegates should typically be sports clubs members including administrators, committee members, coaches and volunteers who are involved in the running or governance of sports clubs.

A number of companies have also come on board to lend their support to the event including Pulse Medical Ltd, O' Driscoll O' Neill insurance brokers, Leman Solicitors, McSports, MyClubFinances.com and EventElephant.com.

This year the Sports Partnerships have decided to embrace technology and the efficiencies it permits for clubs and organisers by developing a website for the event with details on the format and speakers and allowing for registration and payment online, see www.eventelephant.com/thefutureofyourclub. This will make it easier and quicker for people to book into this event - and see who else is attending.

Should delegates be unable to register online you can still book a place by contacting South Dublin County Sports Partnership, Tel. 01 4149000 or email; info@sdcsp.ie and requesting an application form. This should then be completed and returned with payment by cheque or postal order to South Dublin County Sports Partnership c/o County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24. The fee is €20 per person (+ online registration fee of €1.40) and includes lunch, free parking, an information pack and supporting material.

The variety and level of expertise on offer will be of great benefit to clubs and this seminar looks to be even stronger than in 2010. If you would like more information on this event, please contact Audrey Grainger at South Dublin County Sports Partnership, Tel. 01 414 9000 ext 2678 or email agrainger@sdublincoco.ie.
