ISC Announce Results of International Carding Scheme Appeals
The Irish Sports Council today (May 3, 2005) announced the decisions of the International Carding Scheme Appeals Committee. Thirty-eight appeals were heard by the Committee, of which twenty-eight were declined. and ten were upheld. In five cases it was agreed that the athletes had achieved the appropriate criteria but for administrative or other reasons had not been recognised in the first decisions.
In five more appeals the special cases made by the athletes convinced the Committee to reinstate or increase their grants. In three cases they were for young athletes with exceptional potential (Eileen O’Keeffe, Scott Evans, Jamie Popham) and in two for athletes who were subject to the five year rule but demonstrated significant performances in 2005 (Sonia O’Sullivan, Patrice Dockery).
