09 Dec 2010

Motor Sport Ireland and the Irish Sports Council jointly announce that the Irish Sport Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel has determined that John Reilly, an athlete affiliated to Motor Sport Ireland, has committed an anti-doping rule violation.

The Panel found that, contrary to Article 2.1 of the Irish Anti-Doping Rules, Mr Reilly, tested positive for the presence of a prohibited substance or its metabolite or marker, boldenone, in a sample of his urine collected during testing at Mondello Park on the 18th July 2010.

Mr Reilly's results in the race are automatically disqualified in accordance with the Irish Anti-Doping Rules. Mr Reilly has also been sanctioned, subject to his right to appeal within 14 days, by the imposition on him of a period of ineligibility for two years. The original hearing in this matter was adjourned on 2nd November and resumed on 23rd November 2010. The Panel has decided that the appropriate commencement date for the period of ineligibility is 2nd September 2010, the date on which Mr Reilly admitted the violation.

The hearing was held under Article 8 (Disciplinary Process) of the Irish Anti-Doping Rules and this announcement is made pursuant to Article 15 (Public Disclosure) of the Rules.
