NCTC 8th National NCTC Forum
The 8th National Forum will take place on the campus of the University of Limerick from 2nd - 4th September 2005. The title of the Forum “Physical Activity: Common Goals, Different Roles” reflects the overall aim, to discuss the challenges in providing quality physical education, recreation, and sport experiences for children and adults in an Irish context.
Part of the role of the forum will be to provide practical advice on how the concepts outlined in ‘ Building Pathways in Irish Sport’ (previously developed by the NCTC) can be implemented, and extended to incorporate the promotion of lifetime involvement in physical activity.
Keynote Speakers Include the Following:
• Istvan Balyi: National Coaching Institute, University of Victoria, Canada
• Jean Côté: School of Physical and Health Education, Queen’s University, Canada
• Mary O’Sullivan: Physical Education and Youth Sport, University of Limerick
• John Treacy: Chief Executive, Irish Sports Council
• Donal O’Gorman: Sport Science and Health, Dublin City University (DCU)
• Pat Duffy: Director of the National Coaching and Training Centre
